Bespoke Staircase, Goudhurst

We were appointed to deliver a bespoke mild steel staircase within a contemporary one-off family home following the cessation of the original architectural practice. With limited design information available, we assumed responsibility for developing the required structural and detailing solutions to complete the scheme.

Working closely with the client and project team, we interpreted the original intent and produced a compliant design in line with current Building Regulations, including Approved Document Part K requirements. The staircase was fabricated partly within our workshop to maintain dimensional accuracy, with final assembly completed on site.

A key requirement of the design was the absence of visible fixings within the balustrade and apron detailing. This necessitated careful planning of concealed connections and phased installation to achieve a clean, uninterrupted visual finish. Elements were hand-finished on site to maintain the architectural aesthetic and ensure consistency with the surrounding interior.

Delivered as a £25k supply and install package, the completed staircase combines structural performance with refined detailing, demonstrating our ability to take ownership of incomplete design information and deliver a compliant, high-quality architectural feature.
