Refurb Project, Lewes
We were appointed by a medium-sized regional builder to support the structural refurbishment of an existing property in Lewes, incorporating the addition of a new floor and roof structure. The project required detailed coordination due to the complexity and irregularities of the retained building fabric.
Given the nature of the existing structure, all members required careful site verification. Multiple survey visits were undertaken to confirm dimensions, levels and interface conditions prior to fabrication. The detailing phase was extensive, with a protracted approval process as the end client — an architect designing his own home and studio — required precise integration with the architectural intent.
The package was delivered on a supply-only basis across three phases, enabling the builder to sequence installation in line with programme constraints. In total, approximately 3 tonnes of structural steel were fabricated, comprising over 100 individual members, forming a £45k structural package.
Through structured surveying, disciplined detailing and phased supply, the steel package was delivered accurately and in line with programme requirements, supporting the successful transformation of the existing building.
